Hobbithenge

Hobbithenge rents for $89 a night plus a $14 cleaning fee per stay.

It’s stunning and unique. It’s a hobbit house built into the hill, crafted by hand from materials all on the land. Though it’s small, it feels spacious. The front pillars look like Stonehenge, hence the name HobbitHenge. It’s nestled into a meadow in wild nature with an astonishing view.

However, this isn’t for everyone. Expect a long page of instructions to read and follow, for this adventure. It’s RUSTIC — a mud house with dust and spiders. The shower HAS ONLY COLD WATER AND MINIMAL PRIVACY! THE DOOR DOES NOT YET LOCK. If you have high standards for cleanliness this may not be for you!

That being said, if you love nature and funky bohemian spaces, it’s one of a kind.. It’s so quiet, wild, and peaceful here. The mountain view is breathtaking, and it changes every moment. The cacophony of owls, nighthawks, coyotes! This cove is considered one of the most biodiverse regions in the country. The sunsets go on for hours, the stars are amazing.

There is no other house like this. Handcrafted out of clay and wood from the land, with jewels of stained glass and sculpture, it’s the most grounding space I’ve ever felt. You’re nestled into the land, but you can see the stars. It’s so quiet in there, it’s like being inside a snowdrift. It’s the ideal space for meditation and healing. Almost nothing came new from the store; it’s all local clay and wood. The view is stunning.

The beautiful kitchen, indoor/outdoor but dry with power and a place to sit, is a minute away. The cold shower is there too. The outhouse is a 2 minute walk away and shared with other guests.

Another shot of the lovely outdoor kitchen. There is a sink, a 4 burner stove, pots and pans, plates, silverware and cooking tools, oil, basic spices, a teapot, and a French press.

Here’s the cozy loft bedroom, with hatch entrance.

If you want to sleep more than two , each person is an extra $10 a night and you must bring your own extra bed and bedding and a mat for the third person. Towels are not provided, but sheets and comforters are, and two pillows.

The rustic outhouse is a few steps from the door.

The Dome Home

The dome rents for $69 a night plus $10 cleaning fee per stay.

The energy of a geodesic dome must be experienced! You can feel the energy healing you when you are inside. And there is an incredible view. You hear the wildlife all around you. It’s like camping, but more comfortable. It’s quite private. It feels remote, the other two rentals are far enough away that you won’t see or hear them.

The dome is rustic and primitive. The deluxe outhouse is a few steps away. There’s an outdoor shower on the deck, a comfy queen sized bed, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge and hot plate.

View of Wildcat Mountain from the tiny deck.

Keep in mind this is a very rustic space. Nature lovers who are willing to put up with dust and bugs, only please. It can be very hot in summer afternoons. In winter, the only heat is the wood stove, so if it’s going to be cold, please be experienced with these. I provide firewood whenever the temperature drops below 52. If you wish to have a bonfire, you must bring or scavenge your own please.

In the kitchenette is a sink with cold water, a single hotplate, a bin for food storage, and very basic cookware and dishware. There are outlets for lights and chargers, but the power will not support heaters or toasters. 🙂 I provide a small speaker.

There’s a cute rustic outhouse. An outdoor cold shower. We provide the natural soap and shampoo we ask you to use. We provide sheets but no towels.

PLEASE: UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE, YOU MUST ARRIVE BEFORE DARK. If you want to fit more than two people, it’s an extra $10 per person per night and you must bring extra bedding.

The Casita

The Casita rents for 99 a night plus $12 cleaning fee per stay. It’s not as unique as the other two, but more comfortable, with bathroom inside. It’s still rustic and bohemian and has a worldclass view.
